The Story of Daryl and the Three Salesmen

My version of Goldilocks, to sum up the below, I tried out a Peavey 6505+ head with a Marshall 1960AV cab and it sounds like god! Also got some new strings =D

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Daryl. He went for a walk into Bolton. Pretty soon, he came upon a music store. He knocked on the door, when no one answered, he walked right in. Upstairs, there were three cables. Daryl was interested. He tried the first lead.
“This lead is too short!” he exclaimed.
So, he tried the second lead.
“This lead is too long.” he said.
So, he tried the last lead.
“Ahhh, this lead is just right.” he said happily as he picked it up.

After he’d looked at the music shop’s leads he decided he wanted to try an amp. So, he walked over to the amp section where he saw three tube amps. Daryl tried the first Blackstar amp.
“This amp is too weak!” he exclaimed.
So he tried the second Marshall JVM amp.
“This amp is too strong!” he whined.
So he tried the last Peavey 6505+ with a Marshall 1960AV cab amp.
“Ahhh, this amp is just right” he sighed.

Daryl was very happy at this time, so he went downstairs too look at strings. He tried the Beefy Slinkeys, but they were too thick. Then he tried the Power Slinkeys, but they were too thin! Then he tried the Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms and they were just right. Daryl went into a daze about awesome guitar sound.

As he was dazing, the salesmen emerged from the staff room, ranting upstairs.
“Someone’s been touching my lead”, growled the old salesmen.
“Someone’s been touching my lead”, said the high-pitched salesmen.
“Someone’s been touching my lead and it’s gone!”, cried the gruff metalhead salesmen.
“Someone’s been moving the dials on my amp”, growled the old salesmen.
“Someone’s been moving the dials on my amp”, said the high-pitched salesmen.
“Someone’s been moving the dials on my amp and it has a Schecter guitar plugged into it!”, cried the gruff metalhead salesmen.

They decided to look around some more and when they got downstairs, the old salesmen growled, “Someone’s been touching my strings”
“Someone’s been touching my strings, too” said the high-pitched salesmen.
“Someone’s been touching my strings, too, and that guy’s holding them!” exclaimed the gruff metalhead salesmen.

Just then, Daryl woke up out of his daze and saw the three salesmen. He screamed, “I totally just used you guys to try out some equipment because I can get it cheaper elsewhere!” and Daryl ran up the stairs collected his guitar, opened the door, and ran away into the streets of Bolton. And he never returned to the shop of the three salesmen.

A Stepping Stone…

First post in a while >.<

I'm a small stepping stone across my journey for achieving awesomeness guitar sound. My Boss Noise Suppressor arrived today; now I just need to save up for my Peavey Stack. Not only that, but I whipped some Beefy Slinky strings on my Xplorer and I am impressed, tuning down to Drop G# has the same tension as Standard with '10s would have, not that G# sounds good by the way xD

Band is moving along rather nicely got two songs down, working on another two ready for our next gig

New Features

Spent some time today working on a subscription feature, you will now be able to get notifications via email of when new blog entries are posted, simply fill in the little form on the right.

I have started saving for a Peavey 6505 Combo amp, check my progress by clicking the “The Fund” in the top right corner of this page.

Took some band photos today, should be getting them back tomorrow ready for uploading ^_^

Children In Need Show

We raised over £700 for Children In Need today and the gig had a huge turnout, we only did one song again, it was an expanded version of the random song me and Matt did last time.

Another Charity Gig

I have another charity gig for Children In Need on Friday, I will be doing mostly the same stuff as the last one, however this time I will be doing a little intro song and The Metal by Tenacious D with Kurt.

Back From Eurogamer

Just got back from Eurogamer, it was pretty cool. Played many great upcoming games and we even sneaked into the over 18 section that had Saw, Left 4 Dead and Alien vs. Predator. Was a really good day, some of the best photos are below (click to enlarge):

Charity Gig was Awesome!

Despite my earlier decision that the gig would be terrible, it was actually really good. The audience was great and everyone played very well, including me, of course xD. Unfortunately I won’t have the video until Monday 2nd November, my camera was running low on batteries and I had none spare, so I’ll have to wait until the school footage is edited. Charity Gig on Friday

Just a quick update. I’m doing a charity thingy inside school on Friday for tickled pink, me and Matt are doing a random improvisation that we made in like an hour, it is most likely going to be terrible, but meh xD.

Also on Tuesday I’m going to Eurogamer Expo 09 with Kurt and Curtis, expect many pictures ^_^

Burnt Toast Theme Complete!

Spent the most part of today in a recording studio making Burnt Toast, it came out quite nicely. Unfortunately I didn’t get time to record the preview of the song I am composing.
