Guides Page Added

Written by KindredPOKER in Gaming, Web Development

Spent a little time compiling the Guides page today, I have added two of the three guides I have made. The first, Eat Lead Achievement Guide is the best achievement guide for the game on the net and the second is Saint’s Row 2: Corporate Warfare DLC Guide, the only guide out for the DLC.

Enjoy, also to anyone who was looking forward to the forum, I’ve decided to scrap that plan as it would over-complicate the site and I have replaced it with a Reviews page which I will be adding soon.

Just an Update

Written by KindredPOKER in Life, Music

“I’ve never seen a pan cook eggs that quickly!”, was the first thing I heard this morning at a very loud volume, must have fallen asleep watching Scuzz last night and left my television on, it was one of those dumb Teleshopping programs where a fat old guy talks about how great a product is, even though he probably has never used it.

In other news it is nearly 6 week holiday time and going into Year 11 the rules are changing, apparently our school is putting a rule in place where no ‘Extreme Hair’ is permitted, this might be an upsetting goodbye to my purple streak. Also I’ve watched four terrible films in the past two days, Prom Night, about a crazy stabber guy who gets obsessed with a girl, St. Trinnians which was just awful, Cloverfield which had shockingly bad acting and a terrible plot and finally some old mexican film which I can’t remember the name of.

Finally, any metalheads our there should really check out DevilDriver’s new album that came out today, some proper good stuff on it. Also I will be working on the other pages of the site very soon, may even have a reviews page…

No Way… Let’s Play! Section FC

Written by KindredPOKER in Gaming

You Play It Well – 35GS – Secret
I don’t believe this achievement on Guitar Hero: Smash Hits – you have to perfect this one section of insanely fast slider notes on the song Play With Me by Extreme. I just started this song up for fun and managed to perfect that one section and bag the achievement! This was a giant fluke and there is no way I could do this on demand xD – For those interested, the video below will show you what I just hit perfectly.

Never Again

Written by KindredPOKER in Life, Music

I was going to write this last night but I was way too pissed off to consider writing anything. So, we rode down to this gig and discovered that, yet again, it was another tiny venue. Starting 40mins late because of the sound guy not knowing anything about equipment.

At this point our singer’s dad had to leave because he got so frustrated with how they were setting it up; he has been gigging and setting equipment up for over 20 years. We were listening to the bands before us and the sound quality was shockingly bad. So when our band got on to play I was supposed to do the backup vocals but the sound guy said it was too much of a hassle to move the mic from the drum kit to the right side where I was standing… They also managed to get the mics the wrong way round and the lead vocal mic was quieter than the backup vocal mic. We played good but it is a shame that the equipment was so bad.

After playing our band went outside for some fresh air and to get a drink and, when I came back in to lock my guitar away, I discovered that someone has opened the case, ripped out one of the straps inside it that holds the case’s lid up (it’s a hard case), and someone must have stood or fallen on the case because the frame is all out of alignment. Also because of that I have two scratches on the side and back of my guitar, f***ing brilliant.

After that me, Kurt and Curtis were so pissed off we decided to leave early and on our way back we thought of some awesome plans that we are going to pursue soon. Will post what they are after I’ve drawn up some plans for it.

Check out the River Cover on the Media page and you will see and understand how terrible it was, they even managed to mess up the stances, Curtis (the bassist) was in the centre and Kurt was on the left and he is Rhythm/Vocals…

Gig in 2hrs!

Written by KindredPOKER in Life, Music

Well, the gig is roughly two hours off and I’m just chilling with Kurt (the singer guy). As far as the straplocks are concerned, I strongly advise not buying the overpriced and ineffective Dunlop contraption. It doesn’t fit correctly and will easily snap off. Luckily my uncle told me that they are bad and recommended buying some Schaller locks instead – will be getting some soon and in the meantime my uncle let me borrow his. Also got a chance to check out his new recording studio which was awesome.

Was hoping to have band practice today but we couldn’t because our music teacher was teaching all day :(

Hopefully Mr. Kurt will sing ^_^ – he’s deciding when he gets there apparently. Will post a video up of our success or fail later.

Took a bad picture of the badge btw, so hard to take pictures of shiny things >.<

Successful Day… Kinda!

Written by KindredPOKER in Life, Music

I had two plans for today – buy some strap locks ready for Monday’s gig and then play guitar. So this morning I rang three different music stores in our area. At the first one, Music Box in Accrington, I had to speak to someone who clearly didn’t know anything about music and must have been a ‘Saturday staff’ guy and I then had the exact same thing with Reidy’s in Blackburn. Luckily I remembered the beasty store Rimmers in Blackburn who were actually helpful and they told me a black metal Dunlop Straplock would cost £1.99. So, thinking this was an awesome deal, I headed down and also planned on buying more for Kurt and Curtis.

So here is the interesting part – when I got there it transpired that they were £23.99 each and the guy read out the wrong price tag, so I managed to get myself a straplock, as I wasn’t prepared to spend another £50 for the rest of my band xD

I returned home and had a look at the instructions which made no sense because they gave every part two different names and told me to assemble things that are already assembled… Knowing nothing about this I decided to ring my Uncle who is a beasty guitarist. Will be going down to his tomorrow so that he can install them for me.

Decided to have a jam on my guitar and learnt three songs, Seven by VAGIANT, Vasoline by Stone Temple Pilots and Nightmare by Crooked X. Love all of these songs and they are so fun to play that I will be suggesting them as band songs.

(To the people who wanted to see a picture of the Slipknot badge, the lighting at this time of day is bad and I can’t get a good photo :( ).

Am I Evil?

Written by KindredPOKER in Life, Music

Well today my band performed in front of a Yr 10 group of music students – unfortunately we played an instrumental. Despite that our singer thinks that he will actually sing the Manchester gig, but we will have to wait and see…

Started learning Am I Evil? by Metallica which is a cover they did from Diamond Head, so I’m doing a cover of a cover xD. The solos in it are awesome, especially the intro solo, crazy hammer-ons.

Oh also I got a cool Slipknot badge, will put up a picture later.

Manchester Gig

Written by KindredPOKER in Life, Music

Yeah, so there is a gig coming up on the 6th July (Monday) where my band is playing. To be fair it wasn’t planned very well, and we had two weeks notice to get this song down; luckily we have skills so we managed to nail it.

We have a band practice tomorrow morning for two and a half hours and then we are supposedly playing in front of some Year 6s on the day of the gig before school ends.

Because of the two weeks notice our lead vocalist has only sung twice in front of very small audiences. This is a bit of a problem because he doesn’t know if he is going to have the confidence to perform in front of people with this little practice, but he is an awesome vocalist and I’m sure he’ll end up doing it and we won’t have to do an instrumental :P

Gig is 7:30-10:30 and if you’re in the area, pop in for a drink and some awesome performances. Free entrance too I should mention ;)
Cheers Bar,
281 Middleton Road,
Manchester,
